Hyundai’s i20 launched

Hyundai launched its latest offering adding the small hatchback, and much awaited “the i20” on 29th December 2008.

 

Hyundai i20, offers plenty of features which includes - fog lamps front & rear], day / night inside rear view mirror, body coloured bumpers, integrated music player 2DIN with USB, 4 speakers with two front tweeter, steering mounted audio controls, glove box cooling, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors, electrically foldable rear view mirrors, power windows, power steering, rear washer and wiper, rear defogger, tilt and telescopic steering. i20 comes with loads of safety features. The safety features of i20 includes - ABS and EBD and six airbags - dual front, side and curtain airbags.

 

In addition to the above features, Asta and Asta variants gets height adjustable driver seat, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather wrapped and chrome finish TGS knob and alloy wheels. While the i20 Magna runs on 175/70R14 tubeless tyres, and gets only steel wheel, the top end Asta and Asta  runs on larger profile 185/65 R14 tubeless tyre and alloy wheels.  The i20 will be available in seven colours.

 

Flexible, with Turning radius of i20 is just 5.2m, the Hyundai i20 is powered by an 1.2L kapp engine developing 80PS of max power at 5200rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 4000rpm. Hyundai offers the premium hatchback in three variants - i20 Magna,i20 Asta and i20 Asta (O). i20 is 3940mm in length,1710mm wide and 1505mm height and a wheelbase of 2525mm. i20 also offers a quiet decent luggage space of 295 litres.

Hero Honda’s plans

Hero Honda has launched new variants of Glamour, Glamour FI and CD deluxe. The new variants of Glamour will be available between Rs 46,000 and Rs 47,700 (ex-showroom Delhi) and the Glamour FI variants will be priced between Rs 51,550 and Rs 55,550 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Hero Honda has also launched electric / self start variant of highest selling CD100 Deluxe. The CD100 Delux, will be available in four versions priced between Rs 33,700 and Rs 36,900. Though this has been a difficult year for the two-wheeler industry but Hero Honda has been able to beat the industry trend and keep its sales up. The three new bikes are an extension of what has been doing to keep the market interest alive.

Hero Honda will soon launch seven new variants of its existing models to pump up the sales. New variants of the bikes in the high-selling 100 cc and 125 cc segment are likely.

Hero Honda ’s existing models in the 100-125cc segment includes Passion, Splendor, Splendor NXG, Pleasure, Super Splendor, CD Deluxe, CD Dawn, Super Splendor and Glamour. However there is a mouth shut on Karizma’s Fuel Injection (FI) from the Hero Honda Motors. With the new variants Hero Honda sets itself an ambitious target of selling 6 lakh units in October.

Tata Indicruz

Tata Motors wants to be and shall be in the news in 2009. The latest buzz  that’s rolling the rounds is that the Tata Motors will be launching the INDICRUZ, an MPV which is based on the current successful Safari dicor platform. Indicruz is preparing  for a global  launch in Feb 2009. The Indicruz would be a head on competition with the Toyota Innova upon its launched. The Indicruz Crossover is a 7-seater and will most likely have the latest 2.2 liter Dicor engine, navigation system, ABS and air bags among and classy interiors along with other things like 17″ alloy wheels, mirror mounted indicators.

 

Toyota Innova, amongst the most successful Crossovers has sold 132,045 units since its launch in 2005. The Indicruz prototype has been seen road testing close to Pune and the MPV looks rather modern with a large grille and pushed back headlamp which look very Indica Vista. The interiors appear very roomy and are beige in color. The dashboard is well sorted out with a lot of storage space.
